Manchester United are inquisitive about James Maddison but are cautious that it is tough to conclude big transfers in January.

Leicester City's attacking midfielder has been related with a flow to United this month and he's a participant who the club's recruitment team has run the rule of thumb over this season.

But Maddison ticks the boxes for United's scouts in phrases of his age at 23, his footballing DNA, and the reality that he is a young English player, a goalscoring midfielder who can create opportunities for others around him.

United are brief of players in midfield with Scott McTominay and Paul Pogba currently out injured and club chiefs are looking at gamers they could probably carry into the squad this month.
However, United ignored out on Erling Haaland, with the 19-year-old finishing a flow to Borussia Dortmund from Red Bull Salzburg for round €20m (£17m).

That has emphasized how difficult it is for clubs, even those with the pull of Manchester United, to get large offers over the line in the winter market.

There are funds to be had to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to strengthen and the desire is really there to do so, but there is an admittance that it's going to be tough to bring in gamers of Maddison's fine in January.
Another question is whether there may be a willingness for Maddison's element to make the move before the summer.

Leicester looks like a safer bet to secure Champions League football at present and he may determine to stay at the King Power Stadium will be better for his Euro 2020 probabilities with England.
